Designblok 2024 - Jakub Pollág for zeitgeist.limited

New designs by Jakub Pollág: custom craftsmanship in every detail from the zeitgeist.limited workshop

The latest products by designer Jakub Pollág and the manufacturer zeitgeist.limited were last showcased at Designblok 2022, where they introduced the "Bolt Chair," among other items, which received multiple awards, including the prestigious German Design Award. Today, these chairs are part of the interior at the Kuchyn restaurant at the Prague castle.

After nearly two years, Jakub Pollág is unveiling two entirely new designs, which will be showcased for the first time at Designblok 2024 in Prague at the beginning of October. Both products originate from the zeitgeist.limited workshop. For the designer, the focus on product design itself has become secondary. Recently, Jakub Pollág and zeitgeist.limited have increasingly focused on creating bespoke, custom-made products. They collaborate with architects, artists, and restaurant owners. The team at zeitgeist.limited particularly enjoys projects that push their limits and allow them to explore new possibilities, as seen in their recent commission for marquetry and lighting for the Forbína bar.

While visitors to Designblok 2024 will discover new products, the primary focus of the installation will be to highlight a comprehensive look at the entire design and manufacturing process, placing the collection among High Craft selections. Zeitgeist.limited will present its capabilities in precise craftsmanship, which are not confined to one technique or style.

One specific example is the "Patchwork Table" – a unique table that combines various types of wood that, due to their atypical dimensions, would not typically be used for table production. This so-called deadstock material is assembled like a puzzle, resulting in organic shapes securely set into a metal framework. The table not only stands out for its artistic approach but also offers practical features for everyday work, including openings for organizing electrical cables.

Another new item is the “Steel Lounge Chair”. At first glance, its minimalist stainless steel structure with unique details catches the eye. The elegantly shaped frame, combined with solid wood armrests and extremely comfortable upholstery, gives the chair an unexpected touch of sophistication. The chair is composed of several meticulously crafted components, and to save energy, it can be transported in flat-pack form. Additionally, a multi-seat version is available, and the colors and materials can be customized according to individual preferences.

Answers to questions like how long the design takes, how long the production process is, the ecological impact, and how many pieces and materials are used to create these design pieces will be provided through this installation. Throughout the week, videos revealing production highlights and behind-the-scenes footage will be gradually released, with each day showcasing a new part of the process.

You can view the product installation at Designblok at the Riding Hall of Prague Castle from Wednesday, October 2, to Sunday, October 6, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM (until 7:00 PM on Sunday).
