Forbína

2024, Lighting for Forbína bar,
Concept by Studio Olgoj Chorchoj

Forbína, located in the heart of Prague is not just a bar with unique drinks but also boasts a distinctive interior. Its proximity and thematic connection to the National Theatre add a special and remarkable atmosphere to the space. One might think of it as a bar like any other, but this feeling melts away as soon as you immerse in the space, and a barman in a tailored uniform serves a playful and theatrical drink.

The aim for Forbína was to restore the bar’s former glamour by renewing the space while preserving its original charm. Wherever possible key elements were maintained to retain the bar's authentic feel.

The bar’s current features are inspired by the original design, updated or replaced as needed due to their condition.

zeitgeist.limited has worked on the lighting, composed of approximately 140 metal and glass segments, forming five individual chandeliers. The uniqueness of the lighting lies in the fact that none of the glass tiles are the same; each has its unique form. They are cast into carbon molds, with soda added to create bubbles. One lighting structure is positioned over the bar, while the other four are arranged in the space in the shape of a rounded quadrangle, perfectly complementing the desired atmosphere. Each lighting structure weights 200 kg.

The concept and design of the lighting come from Studio Olgoj Chorchoj, based on which we created a 3D model and a prototype exploring possibilities.

This project was very special to us. We invested considerable time and effort into it, enjoying the process throughout.

Another element we have worked on is the marquetry featured at Forbína bar. You can read more about the project in the previous article.
